The Western Digital WD140EDFZ is a 14TB 3.5-inch internal hard disk drive designed for high-capacity storage in desktop systems, external enclosures, and entry-level surveillance applications. Featuring a SATA III 6Gb/s interface, it provides stable and reliable data transfer performance suitable for bulk data storage and backup environments.
Operating at a 5400 RPM class speed, the drive is optimised for lower power consumption, reduced heat output, and quieter operation, making it suitable for continuous use in enclosed systems such as NVRs, DVRs, and NAS units with moderate workloads. The Advanced Format (AF) 4K sector design ensures compatibility with modern operating systems and improves storage efficiency.
This model is typically used in applications where capacity is prioritised over high write endurance, including archive storage, backup solutions, and small to medium CCTV systems with limited camera streams. It integrates with standard SATA infrastructure and supports basic RAID configurations for redundancy.
The WD140EDFZ is not a dedicated surveillance-grade or enterprise drive and is best suited for controlled workload environments where consistent storage capacity and operational stability are required.
