The Seagate SkyHawk 6TB surveillance hard drive is designed for continuous video recording in professional CCTV storage systems, including network video recorders, embedded DVRs, hybrid DVRs, and surveillance DVR platforms. It uses a standard 3.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s interface, making it suitable for most CCTV recorders and storage chassis with compatible SATA drive bays.
This 6TB SkyHawk drive is specified with a 256MB cache and up to 180MB/s maximum sustained transfer rate, supporting multi-camera recording environments where stable sequential write performance is required. The drive is rated for 24×7 operation with 8,760 power-on hours per year and a 180TB/year workload rate limit, making it appropriate for continuous surveillance footage retention rather than desktop PC use.
SkyHawk models are intended for CCTV workloads supporting up to 64 HD cameras and multi-bay recorder use. The drive includes tarnish-resistant components and is listed with a 1,000,000-hour MTBF and 3-year limited warranty. It is compatible with standard DVR/NVR systems that accept 3.5-inch SATA surveillance HDDs and should be installed according to recorder manufacturer capacity limits and supported drive lists.
